The Lonesome Ace Stringband is John Showman on fiddle, Max Heineman on bass, and myself (we all sing). This band came together from doing endless "bluegrass brunch" gigs at Toronto's landmard roots bar The Dakota Tavern. Although all three of us had played together for years in The Foggy Hogtown Boys, the music we came up with as a trio seemed different enough to warrant a new band. Although we consider ourselves an "Old Time" band, our sound and approach maybe doesn't have an obvious link to any "pure" strain of traditional music...which is fine by us.
